The Royal Air Force Music Charitable Trust

Promoting welfare funding through the performance of live music by RAF musicians

The Royal Air Force Music Charitable Trust was established in December 2003 by Malcolm Goodman (former Public Relations and Marketing Manager for the RAF Music Services and serving RAF musician at Royal Air Force Cranwell).

Under its President, Air Chief Marshal Sir Michael Graydon GCB CBE (former Chief of the Air Staff), the charitable trust was subsequently registered as a service charity with the Charity Commission in January 2004.

The charity is administered by its Board of Trustees to promote welfare funding through the performance of live music by Royal Air Force musicians, and routinely provides welfare donations to other service charities, whilst offering its support towards the development of other charity fundraising concerts both in the UK and overseas. Select the 'Events' page for the latest details of the 2010 'Music for Heroes' project...

The charity also provides welfare support for Royal Air Force musicians who now routinely undertake 'Out of Area' deployments in Afghanistan and other operational theatres.

The Royal Air Force Music Charitable Trust also provides online sales facilities for the purchase of RAF music CDs and gifts through this website in support for the Royal Air Force Music Services.

The Board of Trustees...

In accordance with its governing document and the Charities Act 1993, the Royal Air Force Music Charitable Trust is administered by a Board of Trustees who meet regularly throughout the year at Headquarters Music Services, Royal Air Force Uxbridge.

To ensure a wide and open debate on all development plans, the Board of Trustees also invites representatives from the established Bands of the Royal Air Force along with independent advisors to attend committee meetings whenever possible,

If you would like to offer any proposals for discussion at the next meeting please use the 'Contact Us' page to submit your comments.

....The Band of the Royal Air Force of Oman. The RAFO Band has very close links with the RAF Music Services as it has been trained mainly by serving and ex-RAF musicians. Ian Kendrick was Director of Music for twenty years, firstly on loan service and then as a contract member of RAFO. He arrived when the Band comprised fifty young Arabs at a very early stage in their development. When he left, the band numbered 165 including a concert/parade band, a Corps of Drums, two Pipe bands, a Fanfare Party, an Arabic (traditional) Music Group, an Arabic Pop Group, and an Arabic (traditional) Dance Team.
